  • Before commissioning, be sure to check the spring locks/retainers as well as the valve-to-valve and valve-to-piston clearances to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Note for engines produced from late 1977 onward: the nominal diameter of the camshaft, the gear, and the breather valve gear was changed. These components are not interchangeable with earlier versions unless replaced as a set. Post‑'77 gear sets can be identified by a machined circular groove on the outer face of the camshaft gear.
