  • Allows precise alignment of the flats on the oil pump gear with those on the crankshaft.
  • Per Feuling’s recommendation, assemble the cam plate, oil pump, camshaft, etc. on the bench, align the flats on the oil pump gear with those on the crankshaft, then install the assembly into the cam chest as a single unit.
  • Twin Cam engines: position the crankshaft flats horizontally and set the oil pump gear flats on the same horizontal plane.
  • M8 engines: position the crankshaft flats vertically and align the oil pump gear flats in the vertical position.
  • This procedure ensures optimal sealing of the oil pump scavenge port to the engine crankcase, with the components consistently oriented toward this port.
