The 1990 H‑D manual lists shafts as .108" (vs .105"), increasing the measured value by ≈.012"; on '92 engines the outside diameter is reduced by .025".

  • Two main differences between '90-'99 camshaft gear sizes and previous years: the total shaft measurement range was reduced in 1990 from .006" to .003".
  • The large gears are the same size for model years '84-'89 and '90-'99 (identified by green and black color codes).
  • Gear measurements (taken on shafts) are shown in the H-D '90 manual with .108" shafts instead of .105" as before; for the same gear, the measurement on a .108" shaft will be about .012" larger than on a .105" shaft.
  • On '92 engines, the original camshaft gears are interchangeable with earlier versions, but their outside diameter was reduced by .025".
