  • Economy starters are supplied with bearings designed to provide longer life than original equipment parts, thereby improving the overall longevity of the assembly.
  • On many OEM starters, the needle-type output bearing sits outside the shaft seal and is unprotected; in that case moisture and contaminants can enter the electric motor housing and reach the bearing, causing premature corrosion.
  • To address this issue, Rick's equips its new replacement part with a double-sealed ball bearing and places the output seal outside this bearing, which changes the configuration compared to OEM versions.
  • This clever solution serves two complementary purposes: protecting the outer bearing from water ingress and allowing the sealed ball bearing to be replaced when worn, facilitating maintenance and extending the starter's reliability.
