  • Economical starters designed with bearings more durable than the original (OEM) ones.
  • Many OEM starters use an unprotected output needle bearing located outside the shaft seal; moisture can seep into the motor end cap and travel up along the armature shaft to that unprotected needle bearing, causing corrosion.
  • Rick outfits his new aftermarket unit with a double-sealed ball bearing and positions the output shaft seal outside that bearing.
  • A clever design that protects the outer bearing from water while allowing the sealed ball bearing to be replaced.
