  • Economy starters fitted with bearings engineered to be more durable than the original (OEM) bearings.
  • Many OEM starters have an output needle bearing located outside the shaft seal, without adequate protection.
  • In these configurations, moisture can enter the motor end cap, travel along the armature shaft, and reach the unprotected needle bearing, causing corrosion.
  • Rick's solved this issue on its new aftermarket unit by adding a double-sealed ball bearing, with the output shaft seal positioned outside the bearing.
  • This clever design protects the outer bearing from water while allowing the sealed ball bearing to be replaced if necessary.
