  • Original starters often feature an unprotected needle bearing at the output, located outside the shaft seal, which leaves the part vulnerable to the elements.
  • When the output bearing is unprotected, moisture can infiltrate the electric motor's output cap and reach the bearing, gradually causing corrosion and failure.
  • Rick's addresses this weakness by replacing the original bearing with a double-sealed ball bearing in its new aftermarket unit, increasing resistance to water and contaminants.
  • The shaft seal has been repositioned outside the bearing in this design, helping to isolate the bearing from ingress and reduce the risk of corrosion.
