  • Economy starters equipped with bearings designed to be more durable than the original (OEM) ones.
  • On many OEM starters, the output needle bearing is unprotected, located outside the shaft seal; moisture can then enter the motor end cap and travel up the armature shaft to the unprotected needle bearing, causing corrosion.
  • For its new aftermarket unit, Rick's addresses this flaw by adding a double-sealed ball bearing, placing the output shaft seal outside the bearing.
  • This clever design effectively protects the outer bearing from water intrusion while still allowing the sealed ball bearing to be replaced if needed.
