Many starters have exposed needle cages that allow moisture to enter. Rick's aftermarket unit lets you fit a double-sealed ball bearing with the shaft seal positioned outside the bearing, protecting the outer bearing from water and making replacement easier.

  • Many starter motors are fitted with unprotected needle bearing cages located outside the output hub seal: moisture can seep in through the starter motor's output end cap and, following the armature, reach the unprotected needle cage.
  • Rick's now allows the installation of a double-sealed ball bearing by placing the output shaft seal outside the bearing in its new aftermarket unit, providing a better arrangement of the sealing elements.
  • This clever design effectively protects the outer bearing against water ingress and makes replacement of the sealed ball bearing easier, thereby improving the starter's durability and maintenance.
