  • Installing shocks on XL models ('86–'15) may require modifying or adding spacers to the chain/belt case to ensure adequate clearance.
  • A shock slightly longer than stock may slightly alter the rake angle and provide quicker steering.
  • A shock slightly shorter than stock may slightly alter the rake angle and slow steering response.
  • Heavy-duty applications are recommended for motorcycles used at, or near, the manufacturer's maximum load more than 50% of the time.
  • Before buying or installing shocks of a different length than the OEM, check that wheel travel can be changed without risk of interference (swingarm/axle with the exhaust, or chain/belt guard with the tire).
