  • All shock absorbers are measured eye-to-eye to ensure precise dimensions when selecting.
  • On XL '86-'15 models, fitting shock absorbers may require modification or the use of spacers on the chain/belt case to ensure sufficient clearance.
  • A shock absorber slightly longer than the original part can change the rake and provide slightly quicker steering.
  • Conversely, a shock absorber slightly shorter than the original can alter the rake and slow the steering.
  • For motorcycles used at or near the manufacturer's maximum load more than 50% of the time, it is recommended to opt for heavy-duty applications.
  • Before purchasing or installing shock absorbers whose length differs from the OEM, check that wheel travel can be changed without risk of interference (swingarm/axle with the exhaust, or chain/belt guard with the tire).
