  • On XL models '86–'15, installing shocks may require modifying or adding spacers to the chain/belt case to ensure adequate clearance.
  • A shock slightly longer than stock can slightly alter the rake angle and result in quicker steering.
  • A shock slightly shorter than stock can slightly alter the rake angle and result in slower steering.
  • Heavy-duty applications are recommended for motorcycles used at or near the manufacturer's maximum load more than 50% of the time.
  • Before purchasing or installing shocks of a different length than OEM, verify that wheel travel can be changed without risk of interference (swingarm/axle with the exhaust, or chain/belt guard with the tire).
