  • All shock absorbers are measured eyelet-to-eyelet to ensure an accurate dimensional match.
  • On XL '86-'15 models, installation may require modification or the addition of spacers at the chain/belt case to ensure sufficient clearance.
  • A shock slightly longer than the original reference may alter the rake (caster) angle and make steering a bit more responsive.
  • Conversely, a shock slightly shorter than the original may alter the rake and result in softer or slower steering.
  • For heavy use or when the bike is regularly loaded near its factory maximum capacity (more than 50% of the time), it is recommended to choose heavy-duty versions.
  • Before purchasing or installing shock absorbers of a different length than the OEM, verify that wheel travel can change without risk of interference (swingarm/axle with the exhaust, or chain/belt guard with the tire).
