Some models are road-legal (check certificate). Made in the United States, measured eye-to-eye. Beware of modifications (XL '86-'15) and of length variations that affect rake and steering; reinforcement recommended if frequently used under load (>50%).

  • On XL models (1986–2015), installation may require modifying or spacing the chain/belt case to ensure adequate clearance.
  • A shock absorber slightly longer than stock may change the rake angle and provide quicker steering.
  • A shock absorber slightly shorter than stock may alter the rake angle and slow the steering.
  • Heavy-duty versions are recommended for motorcycles used at, or close to, the manufacturer's maximum load more than 50% of the time.
  • Before purchasing or installing shock absorbers of a different length than OEM, check that wheel travel can be changed without risk of interference (swingarm/axle with the exhaust, or chain/belt guard with the tire).
