  • For installation on XL models from 1986 to 2015, it may be necessary to modify or add spacers to the chain/belt cover to ensure adequate clearance.
  • A shock slightly longer than the original may slightly change the rake angle and make steering quicker.
  • A shock slightly shorter than the original may slightly change the rake angle and slow down the steering.
  • Heavy-duty versions are recommended for motorcycles used at or near the manufacturer's maximum load more than 50% of the time.
  • Before buying or installing shocks of a different length than the original (OEM), check that wheel travel can be altered without risk of interference (swingarm/axle with the exhaust, or chain/belt guard with the tire).
