  • All shocks are measured eye-to-eye to ensure clear, comparable dimensions.
  • On XL models (1986–2015), installing shocks may require modifying or spacing the chain/belt guard to ensure adequate clearance.
  • A shock slightly longer than stock can change the rake angle and make the steering quicker.
  • A shock slightly shorter than stock can also change the rake angle and make the steering slower.
  • Heavy-duty versions are recommended for bikes used at or near the manufacturer's maximum load more than 50% of the time.
  • Before purchasing or installing shocks of a different length than OEM, check that wheel travel will not cause interference (swingarm/axle with the exhaust, or chain/belt guard with the tire).
