  • On XL models from 1986 to 2015 ('86–'15), installation may require modification or spacing of the chain/belt case to ensure sufficient clearance.

  • Conversely, a shock slightly shorter than stock may change the rake angle and make steering less responsive.
  • Heavy-duty versions are recommended for motorcycles used at, or near, the manufacturer's maximum load more than 50% of the time.
  • Before purchasing or installing shocks of a different length than the OEM, verify that wheel travel can be altered without risk of interference (for example, swingarm/axle with the exhaust, or chain/belt guard with the tire).
