Available in chrome or black, measured eye-to-eye and made in the USA; some are street-legal (see certificate). XL '86–'15 may require a spacer on the chain/belt case. Different lengths alter rake and steering; for frequent use near maximum load (>50%), opt for heavy-duty versions and check for any interference.

  • On XL models from 1986 to 2015, installation may require modifying or adding spacers to the chain/belt cover to ensure sufficient clearance.
  • A shock slightly longer than stock can alter the rake (caster) angle and make the steering sharper.
  • A shock slightly shorter than stock can also change the rake (caster) angle and slightly reduce steering responsiveness.
  • It is recommended to choose heavy-duty applications for motorcycles that are ridden at or near the manufacturer's maximum load more than 50% of the time.
  • Before buying or installing shocks whose length differs from OEM, check that wheel travel can occur without risk of interference (swingarm/axle with the exhaust, or chain/belt guard with the tire).
