  • All shocks are measured eyelet-to-eyelet.
  • On XL models from 1986 to 2015, installing shocks may require modification or addition of spacers to the chain/belt cover to ensure sufficient clearance.
  • A shock slightly longer than the original can alter the rake angle slightly and make the steering quicker.
  • A shock slightly shorter than the original can alter the rake angle slightly and slow the steering.
  • Heavy-duty versions are recommended for motorcycles that are used at, or near, the manufacturer's maximum load more than 50% of the time.
  • Before buying or installing shocks that differ in length from the OEM, verify that wheel travel can be changed without risk of interference (e.g., swingarm/axle with the exhaust, or chain/belt guard with the tire).
